Join us to explore international networking for women in Northern Ireland!
Tuesday 21 January, 7-8pm via Zoom
This workshop will explore interest among women in Northern Ireland to build networks with women peacebuilders in other (post)conflict regions. The workshop will ask for views on what women’s interest would be; what benefits women peacebuilders in Northern Ireland could get from developing networks, and what women in NI could bring to such networks. It links to a wider project engaging women from Colombia and Syria, intended to identify potential models for international networking and information sharing.
We would very much value the views, experience and perspective of everyone working with peacebuilding and/or communities. We take a broad view of peacebuilding, and see it as part of eg. community development, good relations work, and building connections between women and communities across NI.
The workshop is the first stage of a project looking at how women peacebuilders in different (post) conflict regions could link up to share learning and good practice, and build solidarity across regions. The project supports the UK National Action Plan on women, peace and security and is a collaboration with Northern Ireland Office, funded by FCDO. It will involve workshops with women from other (post) conflict regions in January-February 2025, and will result in a report setting out interest for collaboration, potential mechanisms and, if relevant, next steps to strengthen networking.
