UN mechanisms webinar series

UN mechanisms webinar series winter 2022
UNCSW: From the global to the local

Thursday 10 February, 1-2pm via Zoom

How does the UN mainstream gender equality? Can civil society influence that? Does it matter locally?

Join us to see how the UN sets a gender equality agenda for itself and member states!

The international human rights treaties set international standards, but can’t make sure gender equality is part of all UN work. The UN Commission on the Status of Women is the mechanism designed to do that, and to guide UN member states on policy and standards as well.

This session gives an overview the Commission on the Status of Women and highlights how it works as the main UN mechanism for monitoring gender equality within member states and globally. This year’s CSW conference takes place virtually, and this session is particularly intended to help introduce how the conference works for anyone interested in participating directly.

This session is intended to introduce CSW, so no specific expertise in this area is required. There will be space for questions and discussion as well.
